Experience with prices on cruises
 

Does anyone have a clue as to when cabin prices are dropped? We got a very good deal on our first cruise, but prices dropped even more a couple of days after we booked. We, of course, would like the best price possible, but don't want to miss out on getting the cruise.

Cruise prices will drop any time demand is running behind the cruise line's projection for a particular sailing. The line sets prices for each category based on previous experience and best guesses, and then computers review the sales. If they fall behind their target fill rate, prices will go down.

Prices also tend to drop right after final payments are due, because customers can no longer cancel and rebook.

What cruise line was your first cruise with? Be aware that Royal Caribbean family would give you price reduction or onboard credit even if you are past final payment at time of price drop.

In February by accident I found an incredible price on a Celebrity ship..the category has NEVER gone down and the ship at that time for next week was far from sold out.. the prices rose.. I have found February is cruise month and the prices are the best or when an iiinerary comes out

Between 72 to 90 days out from the sailing date, that's when they panic if the ship is not full. Sign yourself up with the various crusie lines for last minute deals and you will be amazed what is being offered. However, be prepared to get at least weekly (or more often) junk mail that you just delete.

I booked a cruise one week ago for the middle of June, I guess about two months in advance. Price seemed amazing and sure enough, it went up the day after I booked it.
