Experience with Last Minute Cruise Deals

It has been the 80's since we took advantage of last minute cruise deals. Due to homeland security, what is the latest that you can book last minute air and cruise?

Any experience with last minute cruise arrangments would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I believe that the cruise lines must turn in their passenger lists 72 hours in advance. Air travel can still be booked last minute.

I just did a 10 day prior in October, Panama Canal and 2 week prior in January, Austrailia. :)

Thanks so much for your reply.

Did you arrange for your air or use Princess? Do you have any suggestions? My window of opportunity for vacation is Christmas break. I can be gone for 3 weeks. Usually Christmas is high season for travelers, but due to economy, I am hoping last minute deals may be available. I am hoping for either Caribbean 14 day, 15 day Panama Canal, or 13 day Australia. From the research that I have done, lodging may be difficult in Auckland and Sydney at the last minute.

Thanks so much.

The Austraila trip came with an air package, $2000 from JFK, 14 day round trip Sydney with RCI. Took the same trip the year prior for $400 more per person.

I didn't need to "book" air for the Panama canal LA/Miami, since I have airline flight benefits.

We are on the Norwegian Star. Will the cabin be super crowded with the four of us? We don't plan to spend much time in there, though. We are going to do the White Pass Railway as our major shore excursion. Any other top priorities?

You haven't been on a cruise before??? Yes it will be TIGHT with 4 in a standard cabin. Think half a Motel 6 room. :) IF you have a suite, think a little bigger.
