Everglades tour in Lauderdale?
We will be docking early and flying home later. Have never seen the everglades and thought a boat tour might be fun. Any suggestions on specific tours or ideas? Does this sound like a good idea? Thanks.

Sure, take the tour - is it offered by the ship or are you doing it on your own?
If on your own, look for a website for Everglades Holiday Park or Ft. Lauderdale visitors bureau, etc.
Rent a car for the day at the airport - drive I-595 west to US 27 then to the attraction, return car to airport.
Have fun

If you rent a car to drive out to Holiday Park off U.S. 27, you can leave the luggage in the trunk. I would not recommend leaving anything in sight inside the car, better safe than sorry.
I believe Everglades Holday Park is off Griffin Road and U.S. 27. Maryann's directions were correct. When you take I-595 west to U.S. 27, you'll turn south to get to Griffin Road, then turn west on Griffin Road to get to the park.
Also, there are airboat rides just north of I-595 on U.S. 27, too.
I've never taken either of these tours, but can help with directions because I've lived in the area for almost 50 years. From the airport, it will take you approximately 1/2 hour to get out to U.S. 27 if you take I-595. Add another 15-20 minutes to arrive at Everglades Holiday Park.
