European river cruise

We would like to take a river cruise next spring that either ends or begins in Nuremberg, where our daughter lives. We have never been to the area before. Can anyone recommend a cruise line or even a specific cruise.

You might want to search this forum for a similar question. We would also need way more information:

how long a trip do you want?
when exactly do you want to go, March or May?
how many of you?
what type of cabin?
dress up or more casual?
excursions since you're 40 or 75?

You probably need to do a lot more preliminary research and then when you figure out the above, ask questions.

We would like a cruise between 7 and 10 days in March. It would just be my husband and me. We're both in our mid 60s, but extremely active. Hopefully, we won't be spending a lot of time in the cabin so we're not too fussy. I've been impressed with reviews of AmaWaterways, Viking and Uniworld although Uniworld may be too pricey for us. Is Avalon in the same category? Having never been to this region, are there cities we should make sure are on our itinerary?

I've sailed with Uniworld and Avalon, although in France, but I was very happy with both cruises.
You can get really good prices early in the season, but my only concern would be the possibility of high water in the spring when the boat can't make it through the locks so that your cruise turns into a bus tour.
You might look at the River Cruising forum on CruiseCritic.com for advice and trip reviews.
We sailed with Uniworld before it became all inclusive, and I just can't justify their new higher prices since we don't drink and we always leave the recommended tips anyway.
We're booked with Avalon next October for a two week Rhine and Moselle cruise.
Whatever you decide to do, don't waste much time before you book. The boats are small. Our last cruise was sold out almost a year in advance.
Bon Voyage!

I will be cruising on a "Christmas Markets on the Danube" with Grand Circle at Thanksgiving. It departs from Vienna and ends in Nuremburg. I have taken several river (and small ship cruises also) with them and have never been disappointed.
