early dining
I can use some advice.
In Oct. I booked a cruise on the Celerbity Century. At that time I requested early dining. This is a must as I'm diabetic and also because we usually are in bed , even on a cruise , before 10:00 PM. Today I called the cruiseline and they said that they are 100 % booked for early dining and I'm out of luck. Does anyone have any ideas ? |
We won't even take a cruise unless we can get Early Dining.
.>You can cancel and rebook another date. >Eat all meals in an alternate restaurant. >Eat a snack at 6 and wait for late dining . |
bobrad....How did you book this, through a TA, online? The same thing happened to my group in June. All we could get was early and we didnt want it..So as soon as we got on board, we headed to the Matre'd in the Dining Room.We explained the situation and he replied that he had a diabetic couple desiring early so we were able to switch without a problem. It happens more than you know and I am sure they will be able to accomodate you.Sometimes I wonder if the telephone sales agents/reservations people have even ever BEEN on a cruise..

If you have a medical condition all you need to do is send a fax from your doctor to the dining coordinator. Or you can wait and see the maitre'd on board as beachboi suggested. No need to cancel.
|
Check it at once you are on board with the Maitre d".They might have space to add an extra table, or put extra chairs on another table.(But explain why you need it).
Dining can also be done in the Lido- nightly, there is also a daily sushi bar at 6.00pm. |
Beachboi-you make the dining res. at time of booking. I wouldn't wait for my TA to bring it up - tell them- just like you tell them what type of cabin.
Some are not cruise specialists at all. |
I would head to the dining room once you board and request the change, a tip would definatly insure your request. :)

Do NOT wait til you board the ship.
The same thing happened to me so I had my Dr. write a letter re my diabetic condition which I FAXED to my ship's home office. In case there was a SNAFU, I also brought a copy w/me. My cabin had the requested early dining card in my room when I boarded. I noted that the room to see the maitre d' was packed w/ those who waited til boarding which is poor use of one's vacation time. |
Thanks for all the good advice. I'll fax a message to the ship and also grease a palm in the dining room to seal the deal.

You can call a special number for these things. Sometimes they will switch it for you, and others you will need a fax from the doctor. There is no need to grease any palms. Just let them know your needs, and they will take care of it. I agree, do it BEFORE you leave. I do not have the number, but I think it is on the website. They switched us because we were in a suite and had priority dining.

Thanks Again
I called today , for the third time , and asked exactly what I would need to have my Doctor fax them and also to whom he should address the data. I was told not to worry they would change my seating time right now. I said thank you very much but would you please send me a confirmation via "e mail" and they obliged. I now have something to hang my hat on , so to speak. Thank You all once again for all the great advice and help. |
