dumb question: do ocean view windows open?

Hello all,

I have never stayed in an ocean view room, I generally get the inside cabin as I am not in my room most of the time.
Anyway, I was wondering if the ocean view room windows open to any extent.
I will be sailing in the Celebrity Millinuim.

thanks! :)

None that I've ever seen.

Agreeing that I've never heard of or seen any that do.

Not a dumb question at all. :)

In short, no, they do not open. What you may be remembering is old movies in the past where they showed old ocean liners with the small round "porthole" windows that DID open. But I'm not aware of any ship built in the last 20-30 years with windows that open.

Of course, balcony cabins have doors that open...if you want an option to get outside air.

Enjoy your cruise on Celebrity! ;)

No on RCCL, NCL or Celebrity cruises I have been on.

<<When I checked with Oceania, they said they were neutral. What does that mean??>>

A wishy-washy answer, but I think it means they don't want say outright that they prefer not to have children on board. Otherwise they would say children are welcome.

During one of our crusies, our porthole window was underwater for most of one day. I don't any of them open.

Only once of 50+ cruises did we have a window that opened! It was on the OLD Regent Sun (that is no more). We had a small suite on the wide prominade deck. You pulled knobs on both sides of the windows (we had two) and they slid down, opening to the prominade. I rough seas they don't want water spraying into cabins!
