Dress Code
Cruising w/o 12/17/00 -- should I buy a suit or sports jacket for 10 yr. old son. He'll never wear it again. Thanks for your input.

Jan, I'm sorry I don't know what the w/o is. Dress codes depend on the various ships. I really don't think you need a jacket for your son though. You might have him wear a tie if your whip has formal nights. Either that or a collarless dress shirt would work fine. Have a fun cruise.

When we went on a cruise with my then 14 year old son -- I went to Salvation Army and bought him a barely used Brooks Brothers sports coat for $7.00. Might try that...
|
Sorry for confusion -- w/o = week of. Also, we'll be cruising to the western Caribbean on Royal Caribbean's Enchantment of the Sea. Thanks! Jan

<BR>Since RCCL is not on the list of formal cruises, would not advise buying your son something he will never wear again. A long sleeve short will be fine. <BR>Have a wonderful cruise!

We travelled this year on Century (Celebrity-cruises) with our 8 ys old son. Jackets or ties are not needed for boys on formal nights. Even some adults were not using them. <BR>Enjoy yr cruise!

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR ADVISE!!

JAN.. we're gonna be on that same cruise and we don't want no young whipper-snapper going around in camoflage pants or thug-wear. Buy your Son a Tuxedo and see to it he never takes it off!

Dress Code, what dress code! The brochures show these elegantly dressed people in all their pictures. They elude to the idea that RCCL is of higher caliber. I have seen better dressed people at soup kitchens. People were walking around in cut-off jeans, wife beater t-shirts, and a whole lot more. If you like to dress down on your vacation and could care less if the guy next to you looks like a pig. You'll love RCCL.

I just returned from RCCL Rhapsody of the Seas cruise to Mexico. As regards "dress code", there are Suggestions as to what to wear. Note; only suggestions. However, for the "dress-up" dinners one might feel completely out of place dressed badly. Most men wore either a tuxedo, a suit, sports-coat. Tuxedos seem to be worn less often yet many men do wear them. <BR> --As has been said, "Don't worry if you're not dressed appropriately, other people will be".
