Dog sled excursion

Two questions: Do we need heavy coats to do the dogsledding excursion in Skagway in mid June? Concerning freestyle dining on NCL, are the free meals sit down nice ones, or a buffet? I understand that some freedom of choice in restaurants costs extra.

Regular sit down multi course meals are included. No you don't need heavy winter coats. Layers of lightweight lined jacket, gloves and hat work best.

Thanks BudgetQueen. I've read several of your posts, and you're a great source of information. Have a good trip to Alaska this summer!

I think the dogsledding must be the most cancelled tour in AK. Due to the weather. Do they offer it in other ports? You might need to have a back up plan.
If it's cxl'd in one port, might be ok in another.

The dog sledding in Skagway is on wheels - I doubt it would have to be cancelled as much as the one that requires a helicopter landing.

For clairfication- there is helicopter glaicer dog sledding out of Skagway with TEMSCO, Juneau dog sledding is available with ERA and Coastal- it is the most canceled of all Alaska tours- with Skagway second. This is also a glacier dog sledding out of Seward with Goodwin's. You are also very unlikely to be able to rebook once canceled. These tours are always booked solid way in advance. May be possible for a regular glacier landing though.
