Distance from ship to Livorono
 

Hi everyone,

Can't get on the boards for Cruise Critic at this time so I thought I would try posting here.

Does anyone know what the time and distance is from the ship to Livorono, Italy?

I think it might be better if you were to be a bit more specific in your question. I don't mean to be picky, but it isn't clear what you are asking?

Most cruise ships are at pier in within the city limits of Livorno, and not beyond walking distance of the center of the city.

My recollection of 15 years ago is that Livorno itself is not particularly interesting.

If you are at a hotel in the city and boarding in Livorno you will require a taxi.

Sorry I was in a hurry. We are docking in Livorono and according to my research we are bussed from the ship to Livorono. I was just wondering how long of a ride it is from the ship to city centre...we are thinking of taking a train into Florence or possibly hiring a driver. Just wanted to know what amount of time is required so not to miss the ship leaving port.

There are many drivers who will pick you up on the pier recommended on this board.

If you can travel with 4 people, you will find they are less costly than the ship's tours. In alternative to Florence, you can get to Pisa, of which there are mixed opinions, Lucca, my personal favorite, or Volterra. While it is possible to get to Siena as well, that could involve some 5 hours of driving for the round trip.

You should be able to find driver recommendations at cruisecritic as well.

Livorno is a plain industrial city and most people opt to go to Florence. It is about 30-40mins in my recollection by car from the ship to Florence. Easy to walk around Florence and enjoy if you opt to share a cab there.

The ship docks in Livorno. There will be plenty of cabs there and what we did was arrange touring Pisa and Florence with one of them. Those are the places from the Livorno stop you want to see.
