Disappointed!
Quite disappointed to have just been bumped off Overseas Adventure Travels Amazon River Cruise. Never thought this was a possibility and there appears to be nothing I can do about it. Just be aware of this possibility if you are booked with them.

Susie, this is about the 3rd thread at least I have read on this. In one you said they would rebook you for March.
Another thread you posted on got tons of replies. What is the point of constantly posting about this? |
I posted them all on the same day on three Fodor boards and two AOL boards because I wanted to make sure that as many people as possible would be made aware of OAT's practice.

I am sorry to disappoint you, SusieQQ, but I think you are making "mountains out of molehills". This "practice" can happen to any cruise line or tour operator on occasion for many reasons you may not understand. OAT is a wonderful company that has been in the adventure travel business for many years. I am sure there is a good reason why you were bumped. Yours is an overreaction to, yes, a disappointing situation for you, but hardly something to warrant anyone else avoiding this company. No, I have no connection to OAT. There is always a possibility of bumping no matter who or what you are booking. Get over it.

Since I am an independent traveler and have rarely traveled with a group, I was unaware that this is how tour companies operate. I never suggested that anyone avoid traveling with OAT, I am just warning people that if you book a trip with them, it could happen.
|
I have never heard of travelers being booked when the tour took place--only when there were not enough people signed up to meet the quota. In that case, all were cancelled. So sorry for your experience. I've travelled with Globus, Arrangements Abroad, Trafalgar, Page and Moy , and even Cosmos and never had this happen.
