December/January weather in Panama Canal

We will be on a cruise through the Panama Canal in December. Any tips on what kind of weather to expect from someone who has been there at that time of the year?

Rain

Our cruise was mid-January, Los Angeles to Dominican Republic. West coast was like hot summer for us - upper 80s. Sunblock, sunglasses, sunhat.

Going through the canal - a sweater for morning/evenings. East coast was cooler, but not much. We had only one rainy day - in Santo Domingo on arrival, and it was a warm rain.

Looking at the photos, all t-shirt weather.

I would pack an umbrella and a light jacket, just in case.

Thanks....about what we expected. Did not want to be surprised.

Closest I've been is Belize and Guatemala in December. It was hot, although not apparently as hot as it can get. Around 80, as I remember. I did a stopover in Panama City last December and it was muggy.

You should have traveled somewhere more exotic for your birthday, hope you had a good time anyway
