Dealing via internet for cruise

Be vigilant when making reservation via internet for a cruise. Just dealt with Cruise.com and lack of follow through quite disturbing. Documents not forthcoming on time, an overcharge on billing and general annoyance at the entire procedure. Total saving compared to using a "live" travel agent, less than $125. Not worth the aggravation.

I've booked twice on travelocity and have not had problems (yet). Hopefully our New Years Eve cruise will be just as good as the Bermuda cruise in 2000 that I booked thru them.

Picky:

Sorry to hear about the hassles, but I wouldn't ascribe it to someone you contact via online vs. someone local.

Everybody makes the occasional mistake. I've booked 3 cruises with Cruise.com and had no problems--same with cruises I've booked through a variety of other "online" agencies--Cruise Value Center, Cruise Brothers, The Cruise Company.

Describing an agency as an "Internet" agency because because they have a web site is silly. If you called your local agency on the phone, would you describe them as a "telephone" agency?

If you were to take the pulse of the agents you dealt with, I would suspect you would find that they're just as "live" as anyone else.

Cheers!

I've booked with cruisequick.com several times and never a problem whatsoever. In fact, I got upgraded to a penthouse once....

I've used Rod's Custom Travel recently and found the prices and service to be very good.

I haven't used a face to face agent in almost 20 years!!! And book everything online- you have to expect some "snags", but as you travel more and only need a valid ticket- you can certainly save and also anticipate problems. If you need more "service" then rethink.
