Darling Harbor SHERATON

Is this a good choice for a night before leaving on a cruise to NZ?

It's a perfect location; adjacent to the Sydney Aquarium and a short walk to the dock. The Darling Harbour area of Sydney is a great destination in its own rite with terrific restaurants and even a monorail to many other parts of the city.

Stayed there in Feb, and got a good deal. It is a very nice hotel. I would stay there again. Could look at Darling Harbor, the Aquarium, and the Maritime museum out the window. We went post cruise, and even though check in wasn`t until 2 or 3 pm, they let us go right up to our room at 9am.

Pat, The Sheraton sounds just fine. They are offering a room and breakfast for 100 dollars. Is there any other hotel I should consider that would be also convenient for leaving on the cruise. Does Princess and Royal Carribbean leave from the same place? I will be on Princess.

I stayed once before at the All seasons Menzie, and didn`t like it nearly as well as the Sheraton. Are you getting a room with a view? We booked directly through the Sheraton number, and got a great view! I think we paid about what you are paying. I was on the Regal Princess, but would call Princess to just double check. What ship are you on? The hotel is a short cab ride away from the Sheraton. If I were you I would go at least 2 or 3 days early. You will regret it if you don`t. There is just too much to see in Sydney, and I have been twice. We also spent a night in auckland so got to see some of Auckland too, but Sydney is the best!

Thanks for all the information. I have been to Australia four years ago and spent a week in Sydney, but unforunaltely I can only go 1 day ahead this time. What hotel did you stay in when you arrived in Auckland? Also the Sheraton?

We stayed at the Copthorne Harbor in Auckland. There is another Copthorne but it isn`t on the harbor. We did a one day bus pass and saw what we wanted to see. From our window (all the rooms are view rooms) we got to see the Regal Princess when we got up in the morning. What ship are you on?

I havent been on Princes in a long time. My last few cruises have been on Celebrity and Royal Carribean. A good friend of mine is going on the Star Princess in Dec doing the Mexican itinerrary. We live in NY. Do you live on the west coast?

Fran, We live in Reno, Nevada, so getting to LA should be easy. Our last cruise was on Celebrity Galaxy to New England/Canada. I think the Star will be just as nice.
