Curling Irons on River Cruises????

What can anyone tell me about being told not to bring your curling iron. I am a bit panicked. I use it all the time.
Is this a new thing? a regulation? absolutely forbidden? Help! I need my curling iron. And it is a river cruise I am referring to--have always taken one on an ocean cruise.

Who told you that? Is it a rule on your specific cruise line? I personally would not take a full sized flat iron, but a small travel/dual voltage one.

And - how would they even know you had one?
