Crusing Hawaii

We are planning to cruise Hawaii in 2008.

Can anyone please advise the best time of year to go avoiding the rainy season?

Also is it feasible to lie on deck between San Diego and Hawaii or is it too windy?

Your help will be very much appreciated.

Hello Mickrory:

If you want to travel to hawaii by ship I recommend you do this when the Pacific waters are calm. As long as the Spring season in San Diego is not hurricaned out this is the nicest time. Hawaii is beautful in the Spring. Summer is safe but pricy.

This is through my experience.

Thanks for the reply, you believe April or May is best then?

hawaii's rainy season is usually beginning of the year january, february into march, most heavily in janaury. ...although weather as we all know has been so strange in the last couple of years..actually last year jan. didn't rain much in hawaii but then flooded in march..i would say you will probably be safe for the hawaii portion during the spring..may is usually perfect and you can probably avoid a lot of the spring break crowed!

Holland America has several ships that have retractable roofs over the pool area which are ideal for cruising across the ocean in less than ideal weather. They are also great for Alaska. The Statendam is one ship that has one.
