has anyone done a transatlantic cruise on the Royal Clipper from Spain to Carribean?
Would love to hear about it. Thanks so much.

Or are there any other transatlantic cruisers out there---with whom and when and how did you like it?

Check out Celebrity.. we have done the Century with them in 10/15 from Barcelona for 17days and are planning on going 14 days from Barcelona in December...it's a great way to see "interesting ports" like Morocco and the Canary Islands....

We have done the 'transatlantic' several times and I, especially, love it..DH and other friends who have come too are not so enthused. We have gone on the Windstar, Windsurf, etc., and find that every day is a sea day, you get to know fellow passengers very well, get thoroughly relaxed, and find time to explor a new side to yourself. Going to do it again in 2008.

So glad to hear that at least two people have done a transatlantic crossing and look forward to hearing more about them---weather, packing, ports, how you passed time on the 8-9 days at sea on a small ship---ay helpful hints---am still hoping to hear also from someone who has gone on the royal clipper.

How to pass the time...hmmmm...let's see, sleep in and sleep soundly in the gentle motion of the ocean(rocked in the cradle of the deep), breakfast on the deck under the sails if they are up..., card game or crafts, then work out til lunch. Maybe go to the computers and send an e-mail home. Lunch on the deck--the beautiful ocean all around you and silence~!!! that is the best part...no airplanes, machines, etc. I think we passed two other ships the entire 2 weeks. Watch the dolphins when they come near...fly a kite off the back deck....then a nap in a deck chair, a soak in the hot tub, a trip to the library, get a good DVD from the loan, or a good novel..then it's coctail time...maybe invite a few special people to your stateroom and order some treats, check out the wine list and order some to have with dinner, go into the lounge and visit, maybe scope out who you wish to eat tonight with, get a group together, then a fine dining experience, then to the bar lounge on the deck for dancing, dancing, under the stars. Sometimes the crew put on talent shows, or something spontaneous with the passengers, the band plays in the atrium...Tomorrow, same thing. It's not for everybody, but I love it.!!

For Parrot Pop Celebrity offers a digital photoshop class...for $20.00...one of the travel magazines said it was one of the best bargains on cruise ships, although experienced in the use of photoshop he was so impressed that he took two courses.. On our cruise was an elderly gentleman and his two talented sons.. This man has been on Boston Public, Picket Fences and on Broadway...his lecture about his success at 70 had the theatre packed to the brim... his sons both performed.. one was a classical and jazz pianist and the other was an expert on the xylophone.. Okay.. forget about the art aUCTIONS (although I am addicted), there are lectures, games and just plain sitting and reading...We do not care for port intensive cruises and just love the days at sea..It's what cruising is about.. sitting and watching the water which when I'm not seasick..lol is very calming..

Sounds like you really are into this cruising across the Atlantic and I am, too. Was just anxious to hear how others feel and would still hope to hear from someone who has been on the Royal Clipper. Happy cruising!!!

Like I said, it is not for everybody. We had another couple with us who found themselves getting bored, and missed the 'shore excursions' and will never go again. I think you should ask yourself exactly what you are looking for in the way of an experience, and what you like...if it's constant excitement, you'll not find it, if it's quiet and thoughtful days, serenety and peace, yes. It's a personal choice.

It is wonderful, plus no jet lag!!!
