Cruise to take my grandmother on?

Looking for a cruise recommendation for myself (early 30's, married) and my 80 year old grandmother. She is fairly mobile -- we want to find a ship that will appeal to both of us. Since we are flying from Chicago we can do either Caribbean or Mexico. Prefer to go in March or April -- any suggestions?
Hi. I know this isn't what you asked for, but have you considered Alaska?
It's incredible. Go in May for lower rates, or June. A lot of older people aren't so much into the "beachy" trips to the Caribbean, so they love Alaska. There is also a 5-night Carnival cruise on the Victory out of NY that goes to Canada.

I would recommend the Holland American cruise line for any destination with your grandmother. The crowd is older and the activities suited to fit.
Last Sunday's NY Times Travel Section listed all the major cruise lines and many of the small ones. It should be a great source of information.
I have been talking my dad on a cruise about every two or three years. He has sailed just about every cruise line including Carnival and just loves the experience. Of course he is with his family and this does make another big difference.

There are so many elders on ships these days.

My father will be 92 this year.

Paul

We just took my 81 yeal old in-laws on the Dawn Princess. The ship peersonnel bent over backwards for them. St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Martininque, Isla Margarita and Cuacao . St. Kitts is a tender port and the literaly carried my mother-in-law on and off the boat

I would recommend Holland America. We did a family Mediterranean cruise with people from 13 to 70 and it worked well for all. I have also sailed Holland America to Alaska and loved it. I just sailed the Grand Princess to the Carribean and wouldn't recommend it for an 80 year old. Too large and difficult to get from place to place on the ship.
