cruise that visits Turkey - do we need a visa?
We are Canadians and booked on an Eastern Mediterranean cruise with Celebrity. Our travel agent says we don't need a visa but a Turkish website indicates we need one. Anyone who has been one this cruise I'd appreciate your input.

I believe that if you are just in Turkey for a cruise stop, you do not need a visa.

That's right. Even when you go on cruise in contries that normally requere visa like Russia, you will be covered by ship blanket visa, unless you want to do your own shore trip. Website is probably referring to general entry requirements, that is if stay in Turkey.

Abram and Spur - thanks for the help.

I went on a cruise in 2000 that made 2 stops in Turkey and no visas were required.

travellingteacher:
I also have been to Turkey a couple times and have never had to have a visa, but I am from the US. For something as important as government regulations, please check with your own government officials. I'd hate to see you turned away from the cruise because of incomplete documents. |
