Cruise Suites Comparison and Service Too
 

We just returned from our first cruise on the Dawn Princess and LOVED our suite. We booked a mini-suite AC category. The size was great and it had a fabulous full marble bathroom with separate room for toilet, and also had a marble walk-in shower and a jacuzzi to. Our suite also had a walk-in closet.

I'm wondering if I want to look at any other cruise line, will I find something comparable in size and in what we get for similar pricing???

We definitely want at least what we had this time (or more). I don't want smaller bathroom & I like the closet size too.

Please help. We'd like to book another cruise and want to consider other lines if any compare.

We also loved the excellent service by everyone on the Dawn Princess and the great food too.

Don't know if this will help.. We like smaller ships. Sailed with Orient Lines, Marco Polo and then Crown Odyssey. Then went to Seabourn. Absolutely fantastic.. 220 passengers and we are all treated like royalty.. all the cabins are the same size 227 sq.ft. large bathrooms, large walk-in closets. King size beds (you can get twins) and a sitting room with queen size sofa) It is NOT children friendly, but absolutely superb for adults. Pampered passengers. Staff very professional, young, bright, predominantly Europeans. They all speak excellent English as well as their own language. Excellent food (Charlie Palmer, NY City restaurant) everything is included. We are sailing with them again in August. Just book your own land package..you can do better than their charges for hotels.

I think you'd be very pleased with Radisson Mariner or Voyager. Every cabin on these two ships is a suite with a balcony, all suites are over 300 sq.ft. (seperate shower and tub, walk-in closet etc.) There are 4 restaurants to choose from and there is no charge to eat there. The fare also includes tips, wine & liquor with dinner and a cabin set up with soda, beer, water and you can chose 2 bottles of liquor for your set up as well.

You can get the least expensive cabin and be blown away! These ships hold up to 700 passengers (big by Radisson standards) but you will never feel crowded or have to wait in lines (my husband hates lines, especially buffet lines which was how we originally discovered Radisson to begin with). It is a nice cruiseline and you might want to give it a try.

Posting again to add that the Radisson Diamond is also a GREAT ship with only 350 passengers. I didn't mention it before because the cabins are smaller (243 sq.ft. standard cabin size). The service is unbeatable.

You may find that once you try some of the smaller ships (actually I should say fewer passengers on the same size ship) you may prefer it to the ships that hold 1,500 passengers or more!! Radisson has many promotional fares such as 2 for 1 pricing, free air, etc.

Thanks for the tips. I did look at some information on the Radisson -- it sounds wonderful, but then I noticed the ship's size is about 1/2 the size of the Dawn Princess (which was only 77,000 tons). The room size on the Radisson sounds very appealing.

Can anyone tell me - are there lots of public spaces to walk through so that you don't feel as if you are on a tiny ship. I did like the atrium area of the Dawn, browsing the few shops, the walk to the shows. I'm assuming it's just that you don't have the extremely long halls of cabins if the ship is smaller. Is the public area as nice (or nicer)??

Since you like the luxury aspects available on cruises I would check out Silversea...far, FAR above the luxury level on Princess but with prices to match.

I have cruised on many ships and cruiselines but only on one Radisson cruise...the Navigator. If I totaled all my days at sea on other cruiselines, it would still not equal my one cruise on the Navigator. That ship is awesome and the standard suite is huge. There will be no reason to upgrade unless you just like being higher up or want a penthouse. My parents cruised with us and they agreed as well that it was their favorite cruise ship afloat. Unlike myself, They also liked Silverseas but said the food was better on Radisson. I have my next Radisson cruise booked for August and am counting the days.
