cruise lines to alaska

What would be the best cruise line for an alaskan cruise.

I went to Alaska on the Radisson Mariner (now it's called Regent Mariner) and it was the best cruise I've ever been on. Food, service, gorgeous scenery viewed from a balcony cabin. Can't imagine it getting any better than that.

I second that, and if you'd like more details, including a great TA, drop me a line at [email protected].

I do not believe Regent does Glacier Bay.

Holland America and Princess are supposed to be the top choices. They have rights into Glacier Bay and have been cruising Alaska the longest.

Look at itineraries, times in port and sailing routes. Seattle has more open ocean than sailing to and from Vancouver.

My top pick would be a Vancouver RT on Holland America.

I've done both RT from Vancouver as well as one way Vancouver to Whittier. You will see more for obvious reasons if you go one way than round trip but it may make it trickier with air fare unless you're using frequent flyer miles. We did our air through Regent, had a free air special going at the time, so it wasn't a concern for us.

My hubby and I took an Alaskan Cruise on Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas last summer. I loved it. The ship was beautiful. We spent most of the time in port visiting all the cities along the way. Food was good, not very exotic, but tasty. Vinnie in the Schooner Bar was fantastic. All in all it was a great experience.

I really enjoyed cruising on Celebrity Mercury. Of course, it was my first cruise, and I may be a bit biased. ;) It was a roundtrip cruise from Seattle, if that's important to you.
