CRUISE FOR 4

My Wife and I and our 2 teenage children
are going on a Carnival cruise on the new ship the Miracle her sister ships are the Pride & the Spirit.I booked a catagory 8 Balcony Stateroom. In the room there are 2 single beds and a set of bunk beds.I been on a Cruise before but not with 4 in a room. With all the activities on the ship and the ports of call the room will be just for sleeping are we going to feel like a can of Sardines?

No, we've had smaller rooms with the 4 of us (my kids are bigger than me). You should be fine. In fact, we are going on a cruise in June, the 4 of us, and our cabin is only 116 square feet. Yours is quite a bit bigger! We are hardly in the room all at the same time.

More of an issue than space will be bathroom/shower juggling. Also depends on whether boys/girls - when we travel with our teenagers (one of each) a lot of time is spent with them maneuvering so they can get dressed without being unclothed in the others presence.

I'm the only female. So far it has worked out that if I open the closet door all the way, it reaches the wall in front of it so I have a private space between the door and the closet door to change. Does that make sense?

Just returned from a 5 day cruise aboard the Miracle. We had a balcony suite on deck 6. We have 2 children younger than yours (8 and 12), we were very comfortable in the room. We had one king sized bed and the bunk beds. The top bunk was brought down and put away by the crew each day and night, which made it feel more roomy during the day. Also, the balcony was very nice and can make you feel you have more space. I think you will be comfortable.

I agree with the poster who mentioned shower/bathroom coordination. Can be a little tricky if everyone is trying to get ready for dinner at the same time.

This was our first cruise so we have nothing to compare it to, but we had a great experience. Service was excellent everywhere on board. Enjoy your trip.

We usually leave the pool one at a time to head back to shower. The person who takes the longest goes first. If the children are not eating in the formal dining room each evening it will be even easier to coordinate. We use the bathroon door and closet door to make 2 separate dressing areas just like kadao suggested.

I agree that you will probably be fine with the amount of space for 4. However, I am currently pricing the Miracle for next March and find it a bit less expensive to book 1 balcony & 1 inside cabin rather than to book all 4 in one cabin. It will be nice to have 2 bathrooms, 2 tv's, etc.

Hello,

I am a cruise specialist/travel agent and I think you'll be fine, too. Carnival's staterooms are among the largest at sea and you really don't spend too much time in the staterooms during the cruise. The room stewards take care of the bunk beds when they service your stateroom and the stateroom basically turns into a sitting room during the day. The bathroom should be the only part of the cabin that will really need coordination to use.

Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions!

Best Regards,
Julia
