Croatia Dalmatian Coast

Planning a trip for September 2015 to Croatia and want to take a cruise from Dubrovnik through the islands. Looking for referrals for cruise companies and itineraries.

Are you looking for a cruise just within Croatia, or do you want a big-ship cruise that includes Croatia among other Eastern Med. destinations? If it's the latter you have a lot of choices, but you rarely make more than 2 or 3 stops in the country. Most of these itineraries do NOT depart from Dubrovnik but rather either Venice, Athens, or Istanbul, and occasionally Civitavecchia.

If you want a small-ship cruise within Croatia, there are relatively few options.

Be aware that limits the number of cruise ships allowed to visit it. Look for tour companies that may offer small ship experiences, Road Scholar, AHI.

Correction to above: that Dubrovnik limits...

We did a fantastic Cruise on the MV President but out of Split (fab port), visited 6 islands and Dubrovnik, found the latter to busy and tour guides in abundance, Bol on Island of Brac and Hvar absolute standouts.

Ship takes 40 pax, mostly over 50's, included most meals and tours, best thing is it ties up right at the wharf, ship is only 3 years old. Top meals and service from all. Everyone mixed in and our Aussie table was the A team!.

There are cheaper vessels with young ones but not for us.

You can get details of most of the cruises on the Katarina Line website. (If you want inclusive tours with air travel, several companies offer them, they mainly use Katarina Line ships.(We have been visiting Croatia since 1966, when it was part of Yugoslavia). In September 2013 we went on a 7 day cruise from Split to Dubrovnik and return on a Katarina Line A+ ship. This was one of the best holidays we have been on, just 30 people on board, from all parts of the world. We are both in our late seventies, but had no problems with such a small ship. There are cruise going the other direction from Dubrovnik to Split and return, and also one way cruises.
This coming June be have booked a cruise going north from Split to Zadar, though this time on a Superior class ship; to see what it is like, though again just 30 people. Don't on any account go on a large cruise ship, in my opinion they should be banned from the Adriatic.
As you will gather,we are lovers of Croatia, and have spent many happy weeks there; also in Slovenia and Montenegro.
