Costa Maya Beaches
The Costa Maya "Beach Break" shore excursion looks too crowded and noisy. Is there an alternative for cruise day trippers as us? Would renting a golf cart, and setting out on our own be the way to go? We would appreciate your feedback.

cruisecritic.com will have ship trip reports reviews and
Port(Calica) reviews.Usually find a like minded couple or 2 and taxi for a couple of $$ to PDC where nicest beaches are http://www.blueparrot.com/beach-club is a nice cheap one or more but worth it www.xel-ha.com a truly amazing place to snorkel where fresh water cenotes meet the sea. Happy Planning! |
Thanks for responding, but we will be at the port of Mahahual from 7:00 A.M. -3:00P.M. Ideally, we would like to taxi to a beautiful, quiet beach with some basic amenities- chairs and umbrellas, rest rooms, food. We can certainly do without the music and booze. Any suggestions?

If you are looking for beaches that is close to the port, and want them to be nice & quiet and too crowded, you will be out of luck. However, if you wish to go a bit further out, you might want to try Sian Ka'an.
Located within the Sian Ka'an Bio Reserve / Natiional Park are some of the most beautiful beaches in the area. The protected area itself is quite large and is home to many spieces of birds and Mayan archaeological sites. There is an admission fee (under $5) and it is a UNESCO world heritage site. |
