Costa Atlantica from Copenhagen question

A friend is going from Copenhagen on cruise June 2009 on Costa Atlantica. I am cosidering it also but have no info. on this cruise line. Any tips or info. would be helpful. This is a lot of money for me and if I do go I would like to know what cabins would be best or any other tips. I would be flying from ORD - any info. would be appreciated. Thanks. Best to book online - if so where?

For comprehensive reviews, both professional and from scores of passengers try this site:
www.cruisecritic.com. Also try www.cruisemates.com.
On the former there is a cruise board for each line and you can post questions there.

If you rank cruise lines by stars, Costa would be 3 stars, Celebrity and HAL 4 stars. Costa is a little-bit-below-average mass market cruise line. It is okay if you get it for significantly lower $$$ than the competitors.

I agree. How many days is the cruise and what is the cost?

The cruise is for 7 nights. An inside cabin is $1,529, outside $ 1,849 and veranda is $1,979. Is this a good price? Is the veranda worth the extra price? I appreciate the help!

Does that include airfare?

Lets put it this way. Last yr. we paid about 2k pp for a 10 day Baltic sea cruise out of Copenhagen on the Star Princess which typically gets better reviews than Costa and this was for a balcony or veranda. So Costa is charging the same for three less days and the time frame is the same too as we went in June. I know there has been fuel surcharges but not to that extent. I assume your figures are for the cruise only. If so its too much IMHO. Larry

Thanks - I will look around some more!

Last year we did a 10-day Baltic Cruise from/to Amsterdam with Celebrity's Century.

The rate was very good (not quite comparable because we sailed in peak season) and the cruise and the vessel were very satisfying (certainly superior to Costa cruises).
