Cliff divers in Acapulco

We are cruising in March to the Mexican Riveria - and have a stop in Acapulco. We want to take an excursion and then go see the cliff divers on our own. Has anyone done this? The cliff divers excursion is quite expensive and I heard you can do this on your own

Yes, you can easily do it on your own. At the ship pier the taxis are lined up. Negotiate with the driver. It will only cost you a fraction of the ship excursion price.

You don't need an excursion.. hire a taxi driver and for about $5.oo which includes a cold drink or a beer you can go down to the bottom of the steps...they absolutely crazy.I know I had seen pictures, but to see these guys divinginto a small area.. is amazing..

But try and find out what time they dive, it is just a few times per day.
