Prinsendam Ship Holland American

Has anyone been on this 793 passenger ship to the Baltics or the Mediterranean Cruise.

If so what did you think of being on a smaller ship.?

If you encontered a period of rough seas , how did this ship hold up during the turbulence.!

Also if anyone has done the Baltics or Mediterranean Cruise during the months of July...did you find the ports of call crowded due to the summer holiday crowd.?

Thanks
Percy

We sailed this ship in the Med. The style and shape of the ship makes for a very good, stable ride. There is a spot that is often rough were the Aegean meets the Adriatic and all went smoothly. The cabins are very nice size and we enjoyed the size of the ship quite well. Not fancy like the new ships, but very aesthetic.

We have also sailed the Baltic on a smaller ship. The seas were surprizingly calm. We went in late May early June though - so don't know about the crowds for sure in July. But, all of Europe is terribly crowded in the summer months these days I am afraid.

Does anyone know how the HAL Prinsendam compares to the Regent Line for Med cruises?

Regent line is luxury, Holland America is still mass market, although on the high end. They do not really compare. We have done 3 Regent cruises. There is a big difference with all inclusive - no tips, liquor included, etc. luxury cruises.

Percy - We did the Baltic last July, and yes, the ports were pretty crowded. St. Petersburg, Amsterdam and Copenhagen in particular. That said, we didn't have any trouble separating from the masses (except in Amsterdam which I don't care if I ever see again) and going our own, less crowded way.

Thanks boom_boom

Did you book private tour guides at the ports or were you able to do the touring on your own.?

I know in St. Petersburg you need a private tour company , or else you need a visa.

What was the matter with Amsterdam!!?
I always though it was a nice place to do some tours.

I really do not want to do any ship tours.
Thanks
Percy
