Take it when you see it
We really plan our trips far out and have traveled for 55 years, so our bucket list is done. Now that Cuba is available (US citizens) we thought about a cruise to Cuba. Husband and I couldn't agree. He wanted to drive from Austin to Miami to catch a ship as he hates flying but I didn't want to drive all that way and back. So we put Cuba aside.
Then all of a sudden my sister says she is going, NCL with almost 2 full days in Cuba. Price for inside was something like $375 and I was sorry I didn't think about it a little longer. She had a fabulous time, Cuba was great, cars wonderful, ship fantastic.
So, I look into Cuba for late next year (have cruise in January to Caribbean and Panama Canal cruise in Jan 2019). Either they are way more expensive than the $375 of December 2017 or no overnight or overnight is more or less just one day.
Lesson learned. Investigate more, compromise a tad more and grab a good deal.

I expect the price you saw was a last-minute sale price. Watch for another late booking sale. You can set up alerts for yourself from several of the cruise websites.
But I agree - if you see what you want at a price you can afford, grab it!
