CHARGE FOR DRINKS
How much can I expect to pay for a mixed (alcoholic) drink while on a cruise (e.g. rum & coke? What will the price of a glass of white wine be with dinner? Thanks for info.

Prices are pretty much the same as any restaurant. Beware of the drinks in the souvineer glasses, those cost $5.00 to $8.00. On Celebrity they had a list of daily drink specials for $2.95 if memory serves me correctly. The wine by the bottle was reasonably priced at dinner too.
Expect to pay over $4.00 for any mixed drink and $3.50 up for a glass of wine. Wine by the bottle in the dining from is $17.00 and WAY up. Take your own and save money. An example: a bottle of beer at $3.75+tip would run you $102.00 for a case. Nice profit for the cruise line isn't it!

SUGGESTION...YOU CAN BUY YOUR OWN MYERS RUM ON ENCHANTMENT ON SEA FOR $18.00 FOR TWO LITER. JUST BRING ALONG SPORTS BOTTLE. PUT YOUR RUM IN SPORTS BOTTLE FOR POOL SIDE AND ORDER COKE. SAVE LOTS$$$

Just a brief warning if you do plan to bring your own bottle(s) of wine for dinner, a corkage charge may be assessed. Royal Carribean had one, but offered me the purchase of a bottle at the beginning of the cruise that they continued to serve for each subsequent night's dinner. For example, I bought a $25 bottle (plus gratuity) of red wine on Monday, and was served with the bottle (probably 2 glasses per night) from Monday through Thursday. This worked out better for me as the wine I ordered was not available by the glass, and even if it were, I would have been charged $3.50-$6.00 per glass, plus gratuity with each glass. I saved myself a lot by buying the bottle early on and drinking it throughout the cruise.

Lars,

Apparently the charges for mixed drinks and wine vary widely from ship to ship.

We were on Carnival's Fascination in May and mixed drings averaged between $4.00 to $5.25 before the addition of the 15% gratuity. Wine by the glass ranged from $3.50 to $8.00 plus tip --and wines by the bottle varied from $21.00 to $36.00 plus tip.

We did take some alcohol on board in sports bottles to use in our cabin and mix with lemonade for afternoon drinks on deck. If you go this route, don't use glass bottles --they are a dead giveaway if you luggage is X-rayed when getting on the ship. Carnival takes the liquor and holds it until the last day when it is returned to you.
