Celebrity - Cozumel

Looking for suggestions for Celebrity's Cozumel shore excursions

Cozumel is one of the best scuba diving spots in the world - try an introductory course. Snorkeling at Chankanaab beach - just have a taxi take you there and pay the entrance fee. Don't book an excursion on the ship. Skip the ruins.

Skip the ruins? Why? I am a diver but I wont dive cuz I dont want to haul my equipment and I dont want to rent plus my companion is not a diver so any other suggestions. How about the Xcaret Eco-archaelogical Park?

I have not personally toured the ruins, but everyone I spoke with said it was way too hot and not very impressive.
Hi Jennifer,

The Tulum ruins are pretty impressive but you should be interested in ancient history to really enjoy them. The setting on the edge of the sea is beautiful. You can climb the steps of the castle. It is intresting to then attempt to get down as fast as you got up. The children enjoy this.
I believe the only negative is the price of the tour. The pyramids of Egypt it is not.

The two National Parks Xel-Ha and Xcaret are both fun for the entire family. Quite a bit of money was spent building both these parks Xcaret is more elaborate with an aviary, small archaeological site, turtle farm. butterfly pavilion, orchid farm, aquarium and flimingo island. Both parks have ancient caves, underground rivers to explore. Great swimming and snorkeling. Some coves and lagoons are not deep water and the fish swim up to your feet. There are places to eat, changing rooms and lockers.

If your paticular ship does not offer tours you can go on your own but you will have to get off the ship in Playa del Carmen and take a ferry back to the ship where it docks in Cozumel. Get all the info from the purser's desk on the ship. Be sure to leave plenty of time to get a taxi back to the pier for the ferry ride to the ship.

Both National Parks are extraordinary.

Paul
