Carnival Triumph - HELP??

Everyone on the websites have been wonderful...you all say the same thing...do your research! Well now the research is starting to scare me!!

What is up with the urine smell throughout the hallways on the Triumph? I am sailing out of Miami on May 15th and now I am afraid! Cruises are not cheap and there is no way we are spending the money to go onto a ship that smells like urine...I can go to my neighbours house and change their 2 year old for free!

Please, someone give me a good review about the Triumph! PLEASE!!

There's research, there are "horror stories" and there are OPINIONS, many of which are found right here!
Where did this urine info come from? A credible source? Does that source fall into one of the three cetegories I just mentioned?
Knowing Carnival they undoubtedly CHARGED someone for the privelege of sensing that smell! Good luck.

I will take that as a reassurance that I was mislead. Thank you! Have you travelled on the Triumph before?

I have been on only one Carnival cruise which was more than 15 years ago and my experience was less than optimal. I would not discourage anyone from going on a Carnival cruise because 1) I suspect things have changed considerably aboard their vessels since I sailed with them, and 2)what is "less than optimal" for me may not matter to you.
I still want to know where you got the urine smell story....I suspect analysis of the source of that "information" would provide a clue as to its credibility.

I have been on so many sites, but the main ones are this one, and cruise-addicts.com. I know it was a 49 year old woman who went on the cruise and had over a page of "not so nice things" to be said about her experience.

I don't want to upset anyone that I am repeating this but it is just that my husband and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary, and it is the first time we have been away like this alone without the kids! There is no way I am going to spend the money we did to have to smell that! You must appreciate what I am trying to say.

I also know that I am reading the "opinions" of others, but isn't that what the website is for?

Don't know if I can really help -- we were on the Triumph 3 years ago and liked it a lot. Of course, a lot of things can change in 3 years!

Have you checked cruisecritic.com too?

My recommendation is to not take a chance. There is enough bad press on Carnival on these boards that I would simply not chance it. Stick with the two "safe" lines - Princess and Celebrity. They may not be the "fun ships" and they might cost 5% more, but you won't find too many negative reviews about them.

Personally we have never been on the Triumph but have been on the Detiny several years ago and did experience the "urine" smell especially around some of the public rooms that were near the publice bathrooms.

When I spoke to the customer relations desk on the ship I was told, and I kid you not, "What do you expect, we are only a 3 star cruise line". They did give my son a Carnival Bear though for my inconveniece..

This was several years ago so I hope that Carinival has improved and I hope you have a wonderful time.
