Traveling a lot does not refine your taste or elevate your class. It just means you travel a lot.

I am an advertising agent. The type of advertising that Carnival does is designed to appeal to the "low brow" demographic. This is why you see a lot of that client base on that particular line.

The employees of that line must have become inundated with that, and therefore have mirrored the attitude of the majority of the people that frequent that cruise line.
|
Hmmmm........I suppose I will have to inform my employees they are working for a "low brow", "no class" boss. I don't quite know how to break the news to them. Or maybe they already knew??!!
:-):-):-) They probably did already know but considered their paychecks more important. LOL

I am so glad I recently found this message board. This is fun!

Bon Voyage,

Sharon

Hi Sharon, leave it to a woman to twist my words around (hehe). I did not say you were of a low stature. I just said that Carnival tries to appeal to that level of demographics. Hence the reason a lot of peoples complaints concerning that line stem from that type of behavior. Both employee and passenger alike. And yes, this can be an entertaining web site as well as informative.

Just curious, didn't Greg try to have the same type of discussion concerning RCCL, and all you people did was beat him up?

Now all of a sudden it's okay to be negative on this thread. C'mon people be consistent. Either it's okay or it's not. Make up your minds.

Hi guys, it's me again. Both of my sons came by a little earlier and I was showing them the message board. Much to my chagrin, I have to tell you that they think I fit the Carnival profile!! Both, mind you I said BOTH, told me that I tended to be "miserly". Miserly?? MISERLY????!!!!!!! I don't know where they got that idea unless it was because I refused to take one of those 22 days in Europe tour by bus; instead, I REALLY saved money by traipsing all over Europe on one of those shoe string tours for a month. Well, I will show them. I will drive 2000 miles to Florida and catch one of those high speed slick ferrys that take you to the Bahamas.

P.S. Both of them wanted me to name "just one" of the finest restaurants that I dined in while in Europe. Unfortunately, my memory has failed me. You know the old adage, "your memory is the first to go".

I have also found out that an employee of mine is planning a transatlantic voyage on the Queen Elizabeth II. I think I may be paying my employees waaay too much money; I may need to look at the company pay structure again.

Just an old gypsy,

Sharon
You are one terrific gal, Sharon.

You know how to brighten-up this forum.

Paul

Sharon:
I like your style. This thread always did lack life and when Greg had the thread "hopping" "people" wanted to beat his brains out...or so it looked that way from my computer seat.
Welcome and keep "it" going. I live on CruiseCritic.com on the fashion and question boards...YOU may make ME a regular visitor to this thread for Fodors. On Fodors I hang out w/ the Europe/USA/Other threads.
Enough about me...

Happy Travels
Oaktown

Hey Oaktown, I appreciated the life Greg added to this mundane site as well. But, weren't you one of the ones that jumped on the band wagon and tried to beat him up as well? Looked that way to me.
|
All six of the mass market lines are competing for the same passenger. May it be the socalled low-lifer or self-professed upscaler.

HelloXXXXXX:

I NEVER beat-up/attacked/jumped on Greg.
Confirm it: Check the threads.
If you find something simply cut it and past it.
If Greg is still around HE will also tell you that I NEVER did any of the above.
I also NEVER wrote about it, even while the emotions were hot as regards Greg...but I had an absolutely HORRIBLE
RCL Cruise, so I would have NEVER done one thing against Greg for maybe selfish reasons.

Peace and Happy Travels
Oaktown

Oakland:

Thank you. In all honesty, I think I got my style of writing from sitting in the library for hours on end and reading Fodor's travel books.

As soon as I get back home from running errands, I am getting back on here and try to pull up Greg's threads. It sounds as though he really kept everyone "hot under the collar"! lol I just love a good rumble.

One last thing: I keep hearing about the unruly drunks lying around on the hallway floors. I must have not walked far enough down the hallway to find one of those "unsuspecting" drunken sots. Only thing I can figure out is that my sons alerted the cruise officials before I ever came onboard wherein they were able to keep the hallways cleared when I came through. That is something those two meddlers would definately do!

Until later (when I can get back and check out Greg's threads)

Sharon

Sharon:

The reason Greg kept so many posters hot under the collar is because they are very DEFENSIVE of Royal Caribbean.
You know, like their old high school football team was the best and no one can say different.

Cruising has its Cheerleaders.
|
And its jackals. I have never seen a more dogmatic crowd than the people that defend these cruise lines. I swear some of them must be on some kind of kick back system, especially this Paul guy.

Most people will come to your aid if you have a bad experience with anything. Not you people. You not only pour salt in the wound, you rub it in with a wire brush. There are some of exceptions of course, but as a group you are like Jim Jones followers. I am curious to see the response to this post. It will only reaffirm my beliefs.

Oaktown Traveler:

Please accept my apology. I just now re-read my post and realize that I completely butchered your name; I was in such a hurry to get out of here today. "And this is an insurance agent," you ask? :-))

I can relate COMPLETELY to cruiseline cheerleading as I have been known to do that from time to time.

I think I have found the RCCL thread with Greg and I want to get back to that. I mainly wanted to apologize to Oaktown. I have always told my employees that there is nothing worse than mispronoucing, or mis-spelling, a customer's name. (Do I have egg on my face, or what?!) Only in this case, it looks as though it was a complete lapse of courtesy by not double checking and by not taking quick notes to be certain that I had it straight. I have one employee, in particular, who would think this happening to me would be a "real hoot". He will not hear of it from me......

Sharon

Mr./Ms. Anonymous wrote:
>>Something to be said when 80% of the people on this post thinks this cruise line is bad. I can't believe that that many people have their heads in the sand.<<

This is not representative of the cruising public. Most cruisers do not spend their leisure time on the cruise boards.

Also, with so many anonymous posts and those using aliases, I would bet the population of this board couldn't fill half a deck of cabins on a cruise ship.

Texasrider who gives a $*%# how many people complained. If 10 percent of these people are genuine, it's too many. And it is also the content of their complaint. Make up your mind man. You said you liked Greg's commentary's. You are in a sense defending the bull$&#* cruise lines that are not doing their jobs.
|
Hey Sharon:

No problem. I let my spellin' puncuation and all go when I am on the boards. Relax, its just the net(smile.
They can't see you.
How goes your Greg research?

HEY XXXXX:

Got Damn! you made my flesh crawl with that salt and wire brush detail. You are right though.(bristle) I find it true on the other Fodor talk sites as well.

HEY TEXASRIDER:

Girl, you better do your homework on what MOST cruisers do in their NON-Cruising time.

Do you "visit" cruisecritic.com?(Big Hint, wink!)

Have you conducted a search(wink-wink) on cruise and found the hundreads of thousands of sites with message boards, chats and the like?

I will be fair and give you some time to do your homework...I will even help you cheat...Girl you ARE 100% incorrect.

Now, find a nice way to apologize to the nice people...go ahead now.

In fun Only

Happy Travels
Oaktown
Dear xxxxr,

I only report what I read in the travel agency news (positive and negative). Of course I defend most cruise lines since that is my job (you may guess what that is).

I have cruised 70 times and I attempt to give advice. It is up to you whether you listen to it or not. When I state facts, I do not make them up.

The Paul guy

Yes Paul. I think we figured it out by now. The cruise lines must pay well.
