What islands are you going to in the southern caribbean, how old are you, and what are some of your interests?

Hi Patrick: You will love this itinary if you are an active person. It is very busy but you will see great ports. In Martinque I did the rainforest trip to the ruins of the Volcano and it was great. My husband did the snorkling to the bat caves. In dominica we did the rainforest trip to the falls it was a long day but a beautiful trip. St.Thomas is a great beach day, or St.John is really nice we went snorkling at Trunk bay. In Barbados we rented a car and toured the island which was alot of fun. We stopped at sights and beaches and made a whole day of it. Orient bay in ST. Maarten is a nice beach, lots of watersports ect.. in Puerto Rico we walked up to El Morro and it was nice. On the Sat that we departed we went on the tour to the other fort to kill time and we throughly enjoyed it and the guided walking tour. Have fun.Karen

Patrick, I can make recommendations for St. Thomas and St. Maarten as we were there in December aboard Grandeur of the Sea. In St. Thomas the whole family went to Coki Beach, each with a different activity in mind. I went to dive, wife went to sit on the beach and watch daughter and son play in the sand and water, and my son age 9 went to do the bubble maker program offered by <http://www.divecoki.com> Check out their web site. They offer things especially for the cruise passenger, uncluding free pickup at the cruise terminal, which saved our family $24 right there. If you aren't certified but would like to try diving, they offer discover scuba for about 1/2 the price of a ship's excursion. There are lots of fish to see there since it is right next to Coral World and they feed the fish, which has made them use to people.
On St Maarten, I went diving and the rest of the group took a taxi over the the French side of the island to go to the clothing optional beach. I wish I had gone with them as the dive that day was the worst...
As for another site to surf for info, check <http://www.cruisemates.com> . I like their message boards for specific cruise lines as well as destinations

Good luck on your cruise,
Bruce
