Carnival cruise from New Orleans
Sailing from New Orleans on July 13. Any good hotel recommendations? We were thinking of going down a couple days early to do the tourist thing. Thanks for any advice.

The Best Western on Bourbon street is nice. It is was a pretty reasonable price when we stayed. You can check it out at www.bestwestern.com

Do not stay at the Radisson on Canal Street. When we stayed there, they do not hold a parking space fr the registered guests and we had to lug our bags a couple of blocks to and from our car.

Hope this helps!

I recommend buying the Fodor's New Orleans guidebook. It helps narrow down the choices on where to stay, eat, etc. because there is so much to do there.

Has anyone left for a cruise from New Orleans that stayed at a hotel the night before? Just wondering what location would be better and also looking for hotel recommendations. Thanks.

Just bringing this back to the top. If anyone has sailed on a cruise from New Orleans, I would really appreciate hearing what hotel you stayed at and your advice. Thanks.

Hi, Leta:
Are you taking the Carnival Conqeust by any chance? I am looking at that cruise for sometime in July. Did you get a good rate?
I have been to New Orleans several times and have stayed at the Hilton Riverside (twice), the Omni Royal Orleans and the Dauphine Orleans. Loved all three. I believe the Hilton is just a few blocks from the Port of New Orleans.
Pam B.
Leta:

I was on the 1/5 Conquest. We stayed on night at the Wyndam Bourbon Orleans--originally built in 1817 and, as you might imagine, on the corner of Orleans and Bourbon streets. (About 2 blocks from Jackson Square Park). A very neat older hotel being rapidly refurbished, very pretty & good architecture, atmosphere & service (sign up for Wyndam by Request online before you go). Not yet looking brand new, though (still some carpet stains, etc. here & there) but they're working on it.

Hi Leta,

The most convenient to the French Quarter and Riverwalk (ship pier) is the Holiday Inn Select and Hampton Inn and Suites, Convention Center. Both 3-star hotels. You are within short walking distances to both the French Quarter and the ship. Harra's Casino is just about across the street.

Paul
