Caribbean Cruise w/ Teen
 

We will be first time cruisers considering a Caribbean Cruise in March 2003 (spring break) with a 15 yr. boy. Looking for a cruise line that would be a good fit for 40 something parents and a 15 yr son. Have read good and bad on Carnival, any opinions or suggestions on cruise lines or ships would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

Hi Regina,<BR><BR>Just about every cruise line sailing in March to the Caribbean has plenty of teens on-board except for the expensive upscale lines. So don't worry about your son. He will have the time of his life.<BR><BR>As for you two it would be best to see a travel agent so you can discuss your lifestyle and budget.<BR><BR>Paul

Take a look at both Royal Caribbean and Carninval. Royal Caribbean has the roller blades, etc.

Another thought, head over to cruisecritic.com. There are seperate boards on each cruise line. You will be able to pick up some good info on RCI and Carnival.

Its a sad commentary on this site when we have to refer those seeking the simplest of cruise information over to other boards (or travel agents, Paul) for answers. Regina - sorry I didn't give you more to go on than just the names of the ships. The reason I recommend the "Voyager" class RCCL ships for families like yours is there is just so much to enjoy on the ship that you can't get on any other. The Promonade was my favorite place on the Explorer. Its a 100 yard long and four story high section carved out in the middle of the ship and reminds me of a typical small town USA mainstreet complete with street lights, benches, outdoor cafes, and of course drug store, liquor store, sports bar, bakery, clothing stores, etc. Some of the ship's entertainers set up down there before and during first seating dinner with singing, comedy, mimes, etc. They have two Mardi Gras type parades on each sailing that shouldn't be missed.<BR><BR>For your teenage son (and you) they have the rock climbing wall, in-line roller skating track, one of the finest miniature golf courses I've seen, a golf simulator, an ice skating rink that has a full blown ice show two nights during the week and open skating most afternoons.<BR><BR>I guess we'll see if Paul is right and they blow this thread away.
