Thanks, we only have one set of parents...
In my case, DH and I are the only parents/grandparents left for a couple of generations, not even in-law parents or grandparents left. LOL.

odie1, yes they were Chinese. I spoke to a Chinese woman in Jordan, using some rudimentary Chinese. She was from Guangzhou. We left Egypt mid January and Jordan by January 20.
The small Egyptian boats we were on had few passengers.

I was checking our local press to see if there was any news on the Royal Princess crew member, there is not. Nor has Princess announced whether the next cruise on Royal will be cancelled. However, I discovered that Long Beach where I live had its first three presumed cases, two of whom returned from a Nile Cruise. Those two are on "house arrest" but there is another case not cruise-related at the hospital where my neighbor works in the ER. I will probably be limiting my trips to supermarkets to the early hours when they are less crowed, avoiding the gym (any excuse) and other gatherings.

Quarantine at home, I think they really should consider ankle bracelets!

I see, the honor system...
Actually an imperfect and less invasive alternative is a monitoring app that gets removed after quarantine.

I cannot believe that someone thinks "I can get this virus anywhere" means that being on a cruise ship is somehow safer than being elsewhere. Even the cruise lines have been forced in some instances to acknowledge this risk.

Medicare is warning seniors to avoid cruises and from the way it reads, in the future too.

That makes sense, until there is a known effective vaccine, could be years.

I unfortunately bought a $200 NCL deposit which has to be used within 2 years from November 2019. Got $100 back on OBC that I used on that cruise, so I'm down $100. I can transfer it to a younger friend if I don't use it.

In another note, I briefly considered booking that Zandaam SA cruise that turned into a COVID zombie! Zandaam was my first Alaska cruise ship and I love that itinerary.
