Bringing wine aboard Holland America

We would like to know if there has been any policy or enforcement change with respect to bringing wine or other alcohol aboard since 9/11. We would like to bring some special wines to have in our cabins but we note the cruise documents suggest that this is not allowed. Will they search us and confiscate it if we buy wine in a port? Can we bring some bottles in our checked bags? Thank you for any advice you may give.

We have been on 20+ HAL cruises and have alway brought wine with us. We have a couple of special bottles for our suite and if we happen to miss pre ordering at lunch for that evening dinner...we just have on of our own sent ahead to the table. Never any problem and seldom a corkage fee.

There is no printed liquor information concerning bringing your own aboard ship. Unless the info is in the boarding documents. I will take a look when I come across a new boarding info booklet.

Paul

Cruised with HAL in June, and I don't think the liquor policy has changed since 9/11. The cruise document states that you can bring alcohol onboard in your carry on suitcase. But I do remember being told at the first port of call, that we couldn't bring alchohol onto the ship from the port. Not sure if this helps or hinders you. I would bring any alcohol with you from home and be on the safe side.

Sorry folks but only one bottle of wine in carryon, the rest will be left at the boarding gate with your name on it and picked up when you get back. Use to be you could be on a case if so desired but guess it was cutting down on shipboard sales to much, Buck

Thanks Buck-
Thats basically what I was asking. I dont want to make a big deal about it, but I would rather not hassle with carrying several bottles of $100.00 plus wine around if it is not just easy and simple. If it is not allowed, I dont want to take it.

You are NOT ALLOWED at all to bring liquor on to most ships.
If caught, they can make you walk the plank.
