Boarding Time???
 

Just received the RCCL Guest Vacation Documents. Booklet states that we should arrive at the pier no earlier than 2:00 pm. Does boarding not start earlier in the day? First time on RCCL and on a big boat cruise.

You can generally begin boarding at around noon, depending on your embarkation port. In some ports the departing passengers are cleared earlier than in other ports. I've heard of people getting aboard as early as 11:15am.

Keep in mind that you probably won't be able to go to your cabin until about 1:00 to 2:00pm. You will be able to have lunch, though, and explore the ship.

That's my experience also. I like to get there early to beat the crowds, have lunch, a couple of cocktails, and relax and explore the ship. ((b))

And board early if you want to sign up for any massages--the line can be really long when everyone boards at one time--

Until lately, I have also been getting to the ship as early as possible. But, recently, I've started to arrive to the port later than the earliest boarding time. It has been good to avoid the crowds and the boarding process was a lot faster. People had gotten through the lunch buffet and staterooms were available. It worked pretty well.

To avoid flight delays, I try to arrive in the embarkation city a day early. Then, spend the morning relaxing and exploring that particular city. Then, the hotel concierge calls a taxi for me and head over to the ship.
