Best Deck on Cruise
 

I am going on a cruise in November with Carvinal/Miracle. I am getting window cabin vs a balcony cabin. What deck show I ask to me on?

If motion is a problem the rule of thumb for smooth ride is low and midship.

I agree--that's what we always select.

Stay away from the public entrance and exit ways (doors may slam, people noise etc); Stay away from the elevator shafts and smoke stacks as they vibrates and resonates. Look at the deck plan and see "holes" where elevator should be at but isn't and it is consistent through all the decks, that's probably where the stack is. Make sure you are not below or above any of the clubs or theatres unless you enjoy the loud bass. Sound insulation are generally good but I have been in situation where I can hear the TV from the cabin next door so you can imagine what the Disco would sound like.
Low mid ship is good advise for sea sickness. High up will provide better view and closer access to the top decks (pool, buffet, open deck etc) We always takes the stairs and don't wait for the elevators.
If you do not have a balcony, your choices are limited anyway.
Sometimes, you do not have a choice. The price changes from deck to deck so it also depends on what you pay. On the higher category windows cabin, you are so close to paying for a balcony cabin that you might as well get a balcony for the $10 difference.

Also watch out for obstructed views, like Deck 4 of the Miracle. There is usually one deck that has windows and they have great views of the life boats and not much else.

My rule of thumb is to get a Balcony if you think there will be plenty to see from it. Like Alaska, get a balcony, spend the extra money.

In the Caribbean, it is all beaches and water. Nice, pretty, but not amazing views. So I would only get a balcony if I got a deal or an upgrade.

I would say Balcony on either decks 6, 7 or 8. You far away from the main action (nothing on these decks but state rooms)so the noise is low.

I agree with a balcony a MUST!

Also, don't get the room directly below the pool deck as you will hear them dragging chairs to clean the deck in the middle of the night.
