Baltic cruise-what are the seas like

Hello: We are consiering a cruise of Northern European capitals next summer, quite possibly in June and embarking from Copenhagen. Has anyone done this cruise B4? Specifically what are the seas like? Are they choppy or are they USUALLY calm? I know you can predict the weather. :-) Thank you. Larry

Our cruise this summer, June-July, featured unusually warm and sunny days on most days. The Baltic sea itself was mostly glass smooth, which never ceased to amaze me. In the morning, before the breeze came up, it looked like a bowl of jello. I'm sure that it is not always so, but it sure was nice when we were there.
Footnote: Sunrise 4 am, Sunset 10:30 or so.

For me it was just an overnight ferry from Helsinki to Stockholm, but it was so smooth, I wouldn't have known I was on a ship.

Although that was a land trip, we took other daytime ferries around Scandinavia and even my weak stomach had no problems with motion sickness. If I'm not sick then the seas must be VERY smooth. :-)

We did the Baltic cruise on Star Princess in June. Very smooth seas the entire time EXCEPT for about 4 hours crossing the North sea from Oslo back to Copenhagen. About 3 hours after we left, we hit a rough spot that lasted about 4 hours - then it was smooth again. Four hours out of 10 days was a very small price to pay - and alot of people were fine during it ...

I did this cruise with Celebrity this past June (6/17-7/1) and must say it was very smooth sailing.

Love the cruise and the extended daylight, and would do it again...

Remember that summer 2006 in that part of Europa was far more warmer then usual.

I went on the Scandinavia/Russia Cruise on the Star Princess from June 24 - July 4 in 2005 and the seas were like glass. Couldn't feel any motion. We started in Copenhagen, went as far east as St. Petersburg and up north to Oslo. You will love it!

We did this cruise with Oceania in 05... 14 magical days from Stockholm, to St. Petersburg and ended in Dover. A magical cruise. Lovely weather in June. Rain only in Copenhagen and the sea was smooth as silk.
