Baltic Cruise in early September/Weather

We are planning to take a cruise out
of Copenhagen Sept 3, 2009. Stops in
Qslo, Norway; Helsinki, Finland; and St Petersburg, Russia. My question is what is the weather like? Is it a good time to go?

I did this cruise last year and you are going at the tail end of the Baltic Cruise schedule for weather comfort..

The weather will be okay, and will be a little chillier in the mornings only.

Bring a warm sweater...nothing spoils a tour like being cold.!

Of course it can rain at anytime.

I did this trip 2 years ago, and the weather was not bad. Somedays it rain a bit, and evening were a little cooler, but the rest of the time it was sunny like in early fall.

Hi BigEd1

We are planning on the identical cruise (Rotterdam).

Have you given any thought to a Red October organised stopover at St Petersburg, 7th and 8th Sept 2009 ?

We would be starters for sharing with maximum 4 others (total 6 people).

Kindly advise if interested in following up this suggestion

Be prepared for cool, rainy weather. Temps as low as 10°. Pack a sweater and raingear. Definitly no shorts. Temps will never exceed 20°.

You can be lucky and having some Indian summer days. But do not count on it.

It may be the luck of the draw. I've been to both Spain and Italy in early December and lucked out with mild (not warm) weather. Definitely pack to anticipate cold and dress in layers. Any chance of moving your cruise up to early to mid October ? That is the BEST weather IMO..

Oops....posted an answer intended for a different question all together. By all means........it will be COLD where you're going. Brrrrrr!!!

I guess if I knew it would be cold I would go earlier. Packing extra, heavy clothes is expensive with the airlines charging extra for everything. Breayhing is next.

September is better than August when most of Europe is on vacation. You are three days out of August, I think that's a perfect time.

The weather is still nice but the nights will be a little cooler and the chance of rain goes up slightly (but always a chance of rain in the Baltics). Past mid-September it will get much cooler and wetter. An earlier cruise (June) will net the longest daylight hours but may be cooler and wetter than early September.
