baltic cruise
We are off on a Baltic cruise in July on the new Eurodam. (12 days) Visiting Copenhagan, Tallinn, St Petersburg, Helsinki, Stockholm, Arhus and Warnemunde, we need to organise some day trips as we are in port at these destinations for a full day, any suggestions? Can anyone help with dress codes on the ship and do the men need to have dinner or lounge suit?

I did the baltic Cruise in late August 2007 and did a trip report.
Here is the trip report. http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=35060844 Just take whatever information you need from each port i visited. I also started in Copenhagen. Dress code; Dinner jacket is fine enough.( you can bring a tux or suit if you want to get more dressed). You have to have a private tour guide in St.Petersburg or do the ship tour, you cannot go on your own unless you have a Visa. Percy |
See my reply under the other Baltic post. It gives you the thread to the cruise critic roll call post for your particular cruise.

We did essentially the same cruise this past July and also started from Copenhagen.
I strongly urge you to consider getting a private guide while in St. Pete and also doing the absolute MAX amount of touring there you possibly can. The Hermitage you will find to be MOBBED with other visitors and it can be VERY hard to hear anything your guide might be saying (in a group situation especially, unl;ess they utilize the microphone/headphone system I say do the "max" amount of touring and here is why: we have been to every major (and many minor) palace and castle in Europe and all the major museums. I can say without any reservation that NONE of them can compare to the absolutely overwhelming interior adornment you will see in places such as the Peterhof and Catherine palaces. The Hermitage, BESIDES its collection of over 3 million works goes other museums one better: the rooms themselves are so elaborately decorated that the works of art hung on the walls can sometimes take on an almost secondary "oh by the way" status. If you are going to "splurge" on touring, St. Pete is THE place to do it |
With a group of 4 we arranged private tours in St. Petersburg and Warnemunde.
I think the cost would be prohibitive for 2 and 6 would have been ideal. We set up transportation and tour to Berlin with Berlin walks. For a wonderful guide in St. Petersburg contact [email protected]. |
