Any q's?

Percy May 6th, 2010 10:38 AM

Yes,, what is BCN, Palma. !

I assume that Jade is the name is the ship.

jacketwatch May 6th, 2010 11:27 AM

Hello Percy. BCN is Barcelona and Palma is, I think Palma de Majorca or one of the Baelaric islands. Hows the hand these days? Go Blackhawks. :D

Percy May 6th, 2010 12:51 PM

Thank You

Yes, the Blackhawks won last night, rather convincingly.

The hand is still giving me trouble as I fight the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome off and on.

The hand has healed well from the Dupuytren's Contracture surgery...........but the numbness and tingling is still persisting Grrrr:)

I hope you are doing well and golfing (have not yet) and cheering for your favourite teams ...

Do not know where I want to go between now and Deceber ...but I am thinking !!

Ooopps!!!. sorry Viajero2, did not mean to hijack your thread.

You must be a texter !! not being one,I am not familiar with many acronyms !!

Would love to see pictures if you intend to post any

Just curious? Friends of mine are going on a similar cruise in June, and they were wondering about Shore Excursions. They said the cruise ships excursions are expensive, but they don't know where to look to take independent ones. What did you do?

jacketwatch May 6th, 2010 03:36 PM

Hello Percy: Sorry to hear that the hand is problematic. I haven't golfed much yet this yr. but the season is a long way from being over. We are all pretty stoked about the Hawks this yr. as I'm sure you are about the Canucks. I think it will go 7. We go to India in Oct. and have a 4 day stop in Hong Kong on the return. We;ve never been to Oriental Asia so this gives us a chance to do that. All is is OK. Take care and I'm sure you will come up w/ a good plan. What about South America? Take care, Larry :-)

Sue: Usually there are private tour operators on the docks just waiting for business. They are typically much cheaper and of course you can tailor your own excursion. I usually research the port stop for highlights that interst us and then get cab or some other private operator and go. The only thing you need to know is that they must get you back to the ship on time. There is no waiting for pasengers not on ships sponsored tours who are late so you have to be back on time. That being said we've never had a problem and use private operators whenever we can. A good source for tour guides is the port board at www.cruisecritic.com. Its pretty active and one can get alot of info there. In the past I have simply googled say "private otur guides" and added the particular port. This will get you some hits. Best of luck, Larry :-)

jacketwatch: Thanks alot for the info, I will pass it along.

You are welcome. :-)

I agree with jacketwatch.......... there are many tour/taxi/guides waiting for you as you disembark.

I remember a few years ago when I got off in Naples and had a tour guide book ahead of time to do the Amafi Coast ,Sorrento and Pompeii.

Mu tour guide was about 10 minutes late ........ so I was talking to some of the others guides waiting to pick up a group.

Many of them are so cheerful and jovial , I told this one fellow..."if my guy does not show up in the next 10 minutes you and I are off "

In the next 2-4 minutes my fellow pulled up and said sorry he was late but got hung up in morning traffic !

When we drove around the winding road down the Almafi Coast , I felt like James Bond in a convertivle sports car !!

Yes the private tours are cheaper and better.

jacketwatch:

Go for you about India and Honk Kong. I also have not been to Asia.

About South America ... I was there in 2007 for a full month.

Take Care
