Azamara? Any Shore Excursion Reviews from a past cruiser??

Hey guys!

I was interested in trying an Azamara cruise...they're a small ship company that is all inclusive, like Regent. I came across their newest offer, $2000 extra in shore excursions. Hmmmm....Seems like good deal because its about the price of one person on the cruise. But I don't want to get $2000 worth of boring excursions either....Has anyone been on Azamara? What did you think about the shore excursions? Worth checking out to get this? Let me know!

We have booked on Azamara because of their level of service and "all inclusive". Since we are only social drinkers, we didn't feel we got good value for what we paid. Their "land discovery" tours are fine. Because the ships they have are smaller (680 passengers), they travel to places that the mega ship cannot.

In turn, when they are in port (and without any mega ships around), there are a lot less passengers going ashore making the shore experience less crowded, and better. What makes the difference between a good excursion and a bad excursion is the guide and sometimes, it is luck of the draw.

I wouldn't book on the $2,000 worth of excursion. You will have to take a look at the whole package, and can you do better on your own with a private guide.
