Average age of Princess passengers
My husband and I are in our late 20's early 30's...we are about to book our honeymoon on a Princess panama canal cruise..(after the original one to Tahiti on Renaissance was cancelled)...We are going over New Year's. What is the average age of the passengers on Princess cruises? We heard it's a relatively good cruise line, but we don't want to be the youngest couple onboard!
PLEASE REPLY quick! We're booking this week!
Bonni
Hi Bonni,

This is a tough question that is asked many times. Unless one looks at everyone on board and guesses their age who can tell.

Since I presume you are sailing the Sun Princess there are just about 2,000 passengers aboard. There will be very few children since it is not school vacation and it is not a family type itinerary. Princess is not an old-fogy cruise line.

Now if you take groups ages 20 - 30, 30 - 40, 40 - 50 etc. up to 70 - 80, you have 6 groups. Divide 2,000 passenger by the six groups and you end up with 333 passengers in each group therefore you will have approximately 333 passengers your age.

My question is ..... if you are on your honeymoon, why do you really care?

Best wishes,

Paul

Paul,
Thanks for your reply. Your info was helpful...to answer your question, it is always nice to have people with like interests to talk to, even on your honeymoon. I am sure there are many older couples that will be lovely to talk to, but people our age tend to be at similiar stages in life.
We intend to book the cruise tomorrow.

I am 31 and Princess is my favorite cruise line. It is not as "active or wild" as RCCL or Carnival but it is a cruise where you can have fun if you want or you can find a secluded area if you want.

I would expect the Panama Canal to have an older crowd but I would not let that scare me. Most cruises longer than 7 days have an older crowd.

I have never felt that I am the youngest on board or that there is no one my age to talk to - I just fit in with the group.
Hi Bonni,

I might as well follow-up. You will definitely find passengers your age to pal around with. Much more so than the Ren. Tahiti cruise.

Here is a tidbit ..... if you want romance .... go up on deck after midnight. Bring a blanket and a candle and snuggle on a couple of lounges. It's wonderful.

Paul

Sometimes the itinerary determines the age of the passengers more than the cruise line. I agree that a Panama Canal cruise would tend to have an older crowd. Usually the Caribbean cruises have younger people, but all cruises span all the ages as Paul said.
|
The demographics of the passengers depends on the ship, the itinerary and the time of year. On Princess you have a mix, but I would say more older (seniors) vs. younger (under 21). Given a Panama Canal route, I would say there would be older passengers too, but given that it's over the holidays, there is more of a chance of a range of ages. My guess is that you will be among the youngest on board, but probably not THE youngest, and probably not completely alone in your age bracket. (This coming from a 30something 5 time cruiser, 3x with Princess.)

Bonni, go on your trip and have a great time. Princess is definately the way to go. Paul is just going to tell you to go on Carnival. He luuuuuuvs Carnival.

Paul, I don't understand why you.....oh forget it....your an idiot.
Thanks for the kind words Mary.

Apparently this thread has developed into a pre-teen chat room.

I'm gone.

Paul

I see Paul is up to his usual antics!

Why don't you lay off Paul. He did not mention Carnival anywhere in this thread. All he did was offer good, logical advice. Get a life and stop being so rude to one another.

Bonni- All the above posts were correct- Pananama Canal does tend to have an older crowd, but that is due to the fact that the cruise is longer duration--
Princess has a good mix of all ages--
But the best thing: Look to the honeymooners coctail party-usually the first nite- and ask your travel agent to get you a table with people your own age...All the lines like to keep the ages together so you will have a great time and go back on their line.
You will meet other younger couples -esp.at the pool and disco areas--and also if you do excursions that are for the "physically fit" and adventuresome...jeep rides, horseback riding, kayaking, sailing boating, and the infamous HUGE Party Boat excursion....

Enjoy! and have a wonderful honeymoon!

I, for one, have found Paul`s advise very helpful in the past. What have you contributed Mary???

We did the Princess Panama Canal cruise last November and it was great. It's true that we found the ages of most passengers to be a bit older than other cruises, it was no problem at all. They were really friendly and we were able to get a table with younger (like us - early 50s) people. Go see the Maitre D as soon as you get on board and arrange to be at a table with a younger crowd. He will do that for you.
Have fun it's a great cruise.
