Atlantica in January
First timers, wife and I, going to W. Carib. in Jan., will be on Atlantica. Most of the posts talk about the european cruises. Anyone been on this ship in the Carib? How's the food, service, language, etc. on this itenerary? Does everyone dress for toga party, it sounds hokey. Other than the dining room and Club Atlantica what food spots are there? Any other advice in general please.

Hi Larry
We will be on the Atlantica Jan 5. Have not cruised with Costa before but I hear from others that the ship is beautiful and the food just so-so. I hear that 75% dress for the Toga party and that it is a blast! We plan on doing the sheet thing and having fun!

Hi Larry,

I thought the food was great the service great and the ambiance great. Never had a problem with language. The decor is out of sight (very eclectic) but the Murano glass will make up for it. The street festivals are a blast and just about everyone dresses for toga night. The very few that didn't were out of place. May be hokey but it is an awful lot of fun. And anyway Caesar and his court would like to see everyone dressed appropriately.

The alternative to the dining room is the standard large buffet and the alternative restaurant the Club Atlantica, which is very special (reservations and jackets). You should try the Caffe Florian for an hour or two, especially when they have the Italian strings.

You will be in for a treat if the tenor Richard Ianni is on board.

Paul
