Are the pools on cruiseships freshwater?

I hear that some pools on cruises are freshwater and some are salt. Why the difference? Which ships have freshwater pools?

So many people pee in the pools that the cruiselines have given up. They said "forget the cost of chlorine" and have opted to just drain the pools daily and refill them with seawater.

Don't forget about the kids in diapers. That's right: fecal teabags.

Yuck. That is why I never swim in a pool unless I smell chlorine from 50 feet away.

I believe Princess is the only line to have fresh water pools.

Ariel Jul 8th, 2002 11:20 AM

The Disney line also has fresh water.

By the way, as a pool owner, if you can smell the chlorine, that means that there is not enough. Something to do with the chemical reaction.

Ariel is right--the pool area should have no scent at all.

If you can smell it, the chlorine is not working. Usually, when there are tons of kids, you can smell the chlorine because the chlorine can't keep up with the urine.
