Anyone Interested in a RSSC Mariner report?

Just returned from a Venice-Rome cruise on this ship.

Sure I would like your report. Was on the Mariner's shakedown voyage last March, 2001 and would be interested in your comments.
It was a wonderful cruise and we are looking forward to sailing with RSSC again soon.
Would love a report. We may sail on
her next spring. We are mid 50s, like
dining at smaller tables, travel with
no/fewer kids, large cabins, somewhat
conservative. Travel with an 80/90 yr old couple.

Thanks!

joanne and dana:

Here goes. The Mariner is beyond belief. As far as any bugs to be worked out--consider them gone. The service was the best ever on a RSSC cruise. Dana, from your note, I can tell you that we are also mid 50's. We had a suite at the back of the ship which had a 136 sq ft balcony. The cabins, or suites, are large, you can dine just the two of you at four different restaurants. On this cruise there were maybe 4 or 5 children out of the 600 or so on board. The joy to this ship is that the majority of the time yo will think that no one else is on board. The Mariner has several lounges and a ton of free space all around the ship. This was our third time on rssc and the Mariner is heads and shoulders above the Diamond. Other folks on the cruise spoke highly of the Navigator. There were several people on the ship that had sailed with Crystal and said that this ship exceeded Crystal in every way. I would say that the average age on this ship was mid 50's. In a nutshell, this is as close to cruising perfection as you can get.
Thanks!

Our choices right now are Celebrity
and RSSC for a trans-Canal. It's for
an aunt's 90th birthday.

Sounds like heaven! I'll start saving for it.

This sounds like a fabulous cruise! We too are in our 50's and looking for something more upscale like this. My wife smokes, is this ship smoker friendly?

Jim Jun 19th, 2002 01:43 PM

Ken:

The Mariner is smoke free in the public areas but there was several smokers on the ship. The smoking is allowed in designated areas and on the open decks. There were no complaints from smokers.
