Anyone admit watching Television on cruises?
 

I watch television while on cruises. OK, I admit it and feel better now. Most people would never admit it because we are told that we have to say we are active every waking hour on the ship. Not true.

Actually I like Carnival because they have Network Television on their ships, others do not!

Anyone else admit they watch TV on Cruises?

Oh, come on! Sure everybody's TV is on, if not for watching, at least for listening.

I also like the "I am never in my cabin, only to sleep and to shower" yeah, right, where do you put your make-up on?

It's the same as hotel - you watch a little before falling asleep, waiting for your husband to take shower, etc...

But I don't stay in a room/cabin to watch a movie. News, weather, yes.

Days at sea on cruise ship for me are like days at a hotel to relax. I sleep, get up for early AM coffee, read, return to cabin to take a nap, out for lunch, watch a little TV or cheesey movie in cabin, take another nap, drinks, dinner, more drinks, dinner. Sometimes I vary the routine by taking one of my naps by the pool or watching TV in the AM instead of PM.

Is watching TV on a cruise while at sea any worse than attending art auctions, napkin folding classes, or watching some guy from Paraguay sculpt ice? I didn't think so.

What I am embarassed to admit is that I wasted an hour of my life watching a Mr Sexy Legs contest poolside.

I watch it for the news and weather..not for sports or sit-coms(IF ANY!!)

When I am dressing or brushing my teeth the TV is on but I am not watching ..just listening.

Just because I am on a cruise ,does not mean I do not want to know what has happened in the world.!!!

We have to have tv on a little once we go to bed and in the morning while showering and dressing. Our cruise last month in the Greek Islands was interesting as everything was in Greek except one station, CNN, we listened to CNN a lot during that week. The same for the 3 days we were in Turkey and the 2 days in Athens, we would have felt lost without that CNN English station.

Depending on what's happening in the world, I may watch some tv. For example, I was on a cruise when the tsunami hit Indonesia so obviously I watched.
I'm sure people watch tv or have it on in the background at night before turning in or when they are in the room.

We usually check in with CNN to see if anything is happening. I did watch TV a lot (ship's channel movies) on an SA/Antarctic cruise when two ports were cancelled and we were at sea for 12 days straight. Open ocean got a little boring but basically there is too much going on around the ship to spend too much time in the cabin.

On sea days, we not only watch TV for couple of hours in the afternoon, on our transatlantic, we took our portable DVD player & some favorite DVD movies. And we thoroughly enjoyed.

We don't like the ship activities, such as bingo, trivia, crafts, art auction, etc. So, we read, sit on a deck & watch the ocean & the people, & meet new acq. Up at 7am, 30 min. exercise, breakfast, 30 min. exercise, cleanup, ship explore & sit & watch & enjoy, lunch, balcony, TV/movie, cleanup, dinner, evening activities including walking. We love it. Cruising is all about indulgence to us, which includes lots of resting & TV/movie watching!

We did watched a movie or two on TV when we were on our first ever cruise way back when. I don't why but we did.

Since then, we haven't watch much TV at all. We don't catch the news, sports (not even the playoffs) or anything else. There has been no news big enough.

We may have the TV on, but usually on the bridge cam or the house channel, more for background noise than anything else.

There are way too much to do on the ship these days and people watching is more fun than watching TV anyway.

My friends and I actually watched a lot of TV on only one day of the cruise...the first weekend of March Madness tourney!! Come on, if anyone's every filled out a bracket and have money on it, you know how entertaining/stressful it can be! Not to mention, it worked out perfect with room service!
