American Cruise Lines?

Anyone taken a cruise with them? I am going on the American Spirit in the Chesapeake Bay in August. Interested in any first hand experiences.

Are you referring to the American Canadian Line? I can tell you about their ships if you are. Had a 'tour' when saw one in Nassau about to dead head some where. Their ships used to go past our house on the Intracoasal Waterway in NC, stopping for night in Beaufort,NC, our county seat. This is for their repositioning trip up the Intracoastal.
They are small, maybe 100 older passengers. Cabins are so small they have a curtain in stead of a bathroom door. There is no pool or hottub, they have no entertainment but do have a piano if a passenger wants to play it. It is a BYOB ship but they do provide setups and have one night with free cocktails.
The bridge slides down so they can go under bridges on the Erie Canal up the Hudson River. Think they are the line that goes from Chicago to RI via rivers, never going in the ocean.

We get their brochures but have not considered them because they seem overpriced to us. Did you get a good deal or are you more interested in the itinerary?

As a single traveler I am paying a high price. I'm doing it because I am interested in trying this style of cruising and I picked an itinerary that includes ports I haven't visited.

I am also a single traveler and will be on a cruise thru Holland April 2011. Good Friday, Easter Sunday & Easter Monday comes right in the middle of trip. Will anything be open? Traveling with Grand Circle Tours. I hope I like this trip because I would like to do a river tour in the USA. Is anyone going to Holland in April?
