Amazon Cruise

In the mid 1980's I was planning a cruise down the Amazon hosted by Jacques Cousteau. Unfortunately I had to cancel out. Now that I am retired and have loads of time I would like to go down the Amazon. Does anyone know if similar trips are available with lecturers on board? The trip I had in mind started in Manaus.

We did the Amazon on Princess last year.
Buenos Aires to Manaus.
They did have plenty of guest lecturers and the cruise was fascinating. While it might not be as educational as a Jacque Couteau sponsored trip....we certainly found it to be well worth the money

Conquistador,

I would recommend Abercrombie & Kent. They have an 18 day cruise, that does 2,300 miles from Belem, Brazil all the way up to Iquitos, Peru. Their ship, the Explorer, is better suited for river travel than any of the bigger lines. A&K is one of the best "expeditionary" companies around. I did the "River Sea" cruise 6 years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
